Sea insurance
Sea insurance is aimed at covering the damage resulting from various kinds of dangers associated with sea transport and trade.
Two main types of such insurance are insurance of ships and insurance of loads. The third important type is insurance against the risks associated with the civil liability of ship owners and other entities dealing with ship operation. Therefore, sea insurance includes, among others:
- ship owner insurance covering hull insurances, comprehensive insurance,
- civil liability and freight insurance,
- cargo insurance,
- builder's risk insurance, e.g. for ships under construction,
- insurance of sea fishing, e.g. fishing equipment, fishing itself,
- offshore insurance.
